Women's cyclotourism: Route of Alaró, Orient. MallorcaDESCRIPTION

For the fifth consecutive year, and thanks to the magnificent organisation by the Alaró Cyclists’ Union (UCA), we attended what has become in its own right the most touristic event in the Balearic Island Cycling Federation’s calendar.

The participation of so many women in this circuit is undeniable confirmation of the fact that the route and, above all, the pace is set so as to be able to enjoy the countryside and the company of the other participants.

There are no times here, nor anyone who finishes before anyone else. The route is quite simply a celebration of cyclotourism; one that attracts experienced and ex-professional cyclists such as Toni Colom and multiple time world champion, Joan Llaneras, who this time rode with his dream team: his wife and son.

The route is made up of two very different sections. The first is nice and flat, running through the towns forming part of the Binissalem DO and, after 30 kilometres or so, leads back to Alaró. From here, the scenic ascent up to Orient begins along its south face, without becoming too demanding (average 5% incline, max. incline of 8%), taking us up to one of the most idyllic places in Mallorca.
