Es Salt des Frau is a natural waterfall just a few kilometres from Orient, belonging to the municipality of Bunyola. It is on the road between Bunyola and Alaró, in the middle of a beautiful forest of Holm oak, pine and olive trees.
The lane that leads to the waterfall starts at kilometre 8, 5 of this road, crossing the Coanegra torrent. On the way you will see typical elements of rural architecture, like dry stone walls, stone drinking troughs, two water tanks and the ruins of the “cases des Freu” (little stones cottages).
The waterfall is found 411 metres above sea level. The spot is popular with canyoning fans due to the diversity of the terrain; you can walk, swim, paddle or climb. The trip can be done at any time of year apart from the summer, when due to the lack of rain the river is likely to dry up.
Following the lane you arrive at Avenc de Son Pou. This is a large cave with easy access that due to its features is one of the most popular places visited by trekking fans.
