The Jardins del Bisbe (Bishop\u2019s Gardens, in Palma old town) sit right behind Palma cathedral<\/a>. While wondering round the narrow streets of the old town<\/strong>, one would never expect to find such an imposing, mannerist style<\/a> entrance showcasing a crest with its characteristic galero. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

These gardens belong to Mallorca\u2019s diocese. They are laid out following a traditional stately house garden design. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The gardens boast geometrically pruned hedges, a small orchard and a lily pond, covered with a pagoda and bougainvillea. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Palma City Hall <\/a>has cared for the gardens since the year 2000. It is one of the many abandoned corners of the city that have been recovered and revived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The entrance to the garden is bordered with a row of cypress trees, as we enter the enclosure, to the left, we find the garden itself and an orchard. This neat and pleasant combination offers a great number of flowers, fruit trees and aromatic herbs such as rosemary, thyme, mint and rue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Monday to Friday, in winter from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and during the summer it is open from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The gardens remain closed on Sunday, and on Saturdays they can be visited from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
