The Castell del Rei (in Engl., \u201cKing\u00b4s Castle<\/strong>\u201d) alongside the castle of Alar\u00f3 and Santueri<\/a>, is one of the three stone castles in Mallorca<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Located within the Ternelles estate, in a setting of maximum beauty, peace and silence, it has been declared a Site of Cultural Interest<\/strong> (\u201cBien de Inter\u00e9s Cultural\u201d) and is considered to be one of the most outstanding elements of Villa Pollencina\u2019s cultural heritage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Total Length:<\/strong> 17,13 km.
Minimum Altitude:<\/strong> 47 meters.
Max.:<\/strong> 462 meters.
Level of Difficulty:<\/strong> Easy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its origins date back to prehistoric <\/strong>times, as indicated by the Talayotic remains that have been found in the surrounding area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

By the Roman Age<\/strong> it was already used as a watch fortification and throughout the Age of the Moors it served as a stronghold against James I\u2019s troops, which went on to conquer the island of Mallorca<\/a> in March 1231. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The castle is situated atop a rocky crag, 492 metres above sea level. <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Impregnable along its north face, the others feature siege walls and defence towers. One of the castle\u2019s highlights is the original door and drawbridge and the zigzag storm door, the only means of accessing the crag\u2019s summit. It is not unusual to see the majestic flight of the Black Vulture this region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
