It probably arrived in Mallorca thanks to the journeys the local bakers made to Barcelona in search of new produce and techniques that they couldn\u2019t find on the island.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">It gained more popularity in the mid 20<\/span><sup><span lang=\"en-US\">th<\/span><\/sup><span lang=\"en-US\"> century. The llonguet <strong>was an exclusive bakery item<\/strong>. They were made one by one, by expert hands, very different from the villages and rural areas where the people were much more attached to the traditional <strong><em>pan pay\u00e9s<\/em><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Oddly enough, the llonguet was on the brink of extinction, but thanks to some bakers who never stopped producing them, and the appearance of endeavors such as the <\/span><strong><span lang=\"en-US\"><i>Orgull Llonguet<\/i><\/span><\/strong><span lang=\"en-US\"> (Llonguet Pride) this charismatic bread role was saved and is now more alive than ever. <\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><strong>Every Wednesday there is a route through different bakeries<\/strong> in the city, the Llonguet is the main feature, it also plays a big part in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.masmallorca.es\/cultura\/ayuntamiento-de-palma-y-consell-insular-de-mallorca.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Palma<\/a>\u2019s San Sebastian festivities<\/strong>.
