{"id":25530,"date":"2019-07-18T09:21:44","date_gmt":"2019-07-18T07:21:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.masmallorca.es\/places-of-special-interest\/las-casas-de-defla-una-posesion-con-historia.html"},"modified":"2025-01-10T21:27:49","modified_gmt":"2025-01-10T20:27:49","slug":"defla-houses-a-possession-with-history","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.masmallorca.es\/en\/culture\/defla-houses-a-possession-with-history.html","title":{"rendered":"Defla houses, a possession with history"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A few kilometres away, leaving the town of Sineu, is the Delfa or Adelfa estate, surrounded by extensive farmland and a lush <strong>woodland<\/strong>, enclosed within an island made up of the Delfa Houses, a stately home dignifed from the outset by the white marble <strong>coat of arms<\/strong> of the Rossinyol family.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Within the first area, the houses with beautiful entrances, also adorned by the aforementioned family\u2019s coat of arms, are of particular interest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"940\" height=\"695\" src=\"https:\/\/www.masmallorca.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Casas-de-Defla-4.jpg\" alt=\"Defla houses\" class=\"wp-image-25624\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.masmallorca.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Casas-de-Defla-4.jpg 940w, https:\/\/www.masmallorca.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Casas-de-Defla-4-300x222.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.masmallorca.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Casas-de-Defla-4-768x568.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 940px) 100vw, 940px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A building taking the form of a <strong>chapel<\/strong> where mass used to be held on Sundays during the summer can be found here. Inside said chapel, adorned with a fa\u00e7ade in the <strong>Gothic style<\/strong>, there is just a high alter, opposite the chancel, and, to the left, a <strong>white marble<\/strong> sepulchre that contains the remains of Charles of Spain. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"940\" height=\"374\" src=\"https:\/\/www.masmallorca.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Casas-de-Defla-2.jpg\" alt=\"Defla houses\" class=\"wp-image-25614\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.masmallorca.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Casas-de-Defla-2.jpg 940w, https:\/\/www.masmallorca.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Casas-de-Defla-2-300x119.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.masmallorca.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Casas-de-Defla-2-768x306.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 940px) 100vw, 940px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>At present, Defla is being refurbished. It can be visited during the next season with permission of the current proprietor Ferran Espa\u00f1a y Morell, Count of Spain. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\"
