{"id":23821,"date":"2019-02-14T20:20:19","date_gmt":"2019-02-14T19:20:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.masmallorca.es\/?p=23821"},"modified":"2019-02-14T20:33:42","modified_gmt":"2019-02-14T19:33:42","slug":"can-balaguer-permanent-proof-of-palma-stately-past","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.masmallorca.es\/en\/culture\/can-balaguer-permanent-proof-of-palma-stately-past.html","title":{"rendered":"Can Balaguer, permanent proof of Palma\u2019s stately past"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Can Balaguer<\/strong> is right in the centre of Palma, right next to the commercial area of <strong>Jaime III and the Paseo del Born<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks to a six-year renovation by the council, it is possible to see what a traditional stately home was like in Palma, and how these evolved between the 16th and 20th century, with the decoration of each stage on show. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.masmallorca.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/CanBalaguer2.jpg\" alt=\"Can Balaguer, permanent proof of Palma\u2019s stately past\"\/><figcaption>Can Balaguer, permanent proof of Palma\u2019s stately past<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The stately house was built in the first half of the 18th century in a<strong> baroque style<\/strong>, for the first Marquis of Reguer, Francesc Amer Montaner I Dameto, a gentlemen of Felipe the Fifths chamber. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The exhibition \u201cA New Space for the City\u201d, located in the courtyard, explains how the house was renovated to become a charming museum, as well as how stately homes evolved in Palma, according to the architectonic styles and tastes of each era. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"844\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.masmallorca.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/CanBalaguer-palma-844x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Can Balaguer, Palma.
