Ca los Cans goes by several names: Cala des Camps, Ca los Camps, Cala dels Camps Vells, or Cal\u00f3\u2019s Cans. It is believed that the original name was Cal\u00f3 des Cans (\u201clittle cove of the dogs\u201d).<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Ca los Camps is located 15 kilometers from Art\u00e0, between Punta de Calo\u2019s Cans (a viewpoint with excellent panoramic views over the Bay of Alc\u00fadia<\/a>) and Sa Cugassa, and overlooked by the Hermitage of Betlem (built 300 meters above sea level) and Sa Coassa (321 meters above sea level).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This coastal corner is the result of the mouth of the Torrent dels Cocons (which comes from the comellar with the same name) and the marine erosion which has formed a v-shaped sea inlet of fossil dune. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This beautiful virgin beach has a quite gentle slope, pebbles, a stony ground and the presence of tamarisks next to the coastline.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There are also some escars (dry docks) and a defense place from machine-gunning during the Civil War. From this cove on, the coast has less vegetation and becomes steeper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This beach is located between the village of Betlem and Col\u00f2nia de Sant Pere. In a forest nearby, which you can reach walking on the trail which is parallel to the coast and passing the possessi\u00f3<\/em> (rural finca) Son Mascar\u00f3 toward west, you will find the prehistoric Poblat Talai\u00f2tic de Ses Pa\u00efsses.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to get from Art\u00e0 to Ca los Camps<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Start out from calle Santa Margalida which becomes carretera Art\u00e0-Port d\u2019Alc\u00fadia (Ma-12) on the outskirts of the municipality. Follow this road until the junction of Ma-3331, where you have to turn right to go onto this road. Stay straight toward the village of Col\u00f2nia de Sant Pere. Turn left onto calle Major<\/em>\u00a0street of\u00a0Col\u00f2nia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pass the coastal village and then turn left onto the third street. Stay straight until you reach the coast, where you have to turn right. Follow this street until the end. Here you can look for parking and reach this beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
