Plaza de Cort\" src=\"https:\/\/www.masmallorca.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/ajuntament-palma-consell-insular-plaza-cort-fachada-4.jpg\" alt=\"Palma City Hall\" width=\"150\" height=\"138\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>City Hall<\/strong> presides over Plaza de Cort, and all the pretty streets that lead to it; next to City Hall is the palace that is home to the <strong>Consell Insular<\/strong>.<strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"text-align: justify;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignleft size-full wp-image-13253\" style=\"border: 0px none; margin: 0px 20px 0px 0px; float: left;\" title=\"Consell Insular de Mallorca\" src=\"https:\/\/www.masmallorca.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/ajuntament-palma-consell-insular-plaza-cort.jpg\" alt=\"Consell Insular de Mallorca\" width=\"350\" height=\"467\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.masmallorca.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/ajuntament-palma-consell-insular-plaza-cort.jpg 350w, https:\/\/www.masmallorca.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/ajuntament-palma-consell-insular-plaza-cort-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>City Hall<\/strong> was built between 1649 and 1680 following the schematics of a Majorcan manor house, in a style that is a transition between <strong>Mannerism and Baroque<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The red pine cantilever with figures of caryatides and atlantians, the large balcony on the main floor and the sculptured fa\u00e7ade with its snail and lizard carved out of stone, are all standout features of this amazing building. There is also a stone bench built onto the facade. The clock on the gable end was built in Paris and has been functioning since 1863.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Next to City Hall we find the <strong>Consell Insular de Mallorca<\/strong>, this building has a <strong>neo-gothic<\/strong> fa\u00e7ade and was built in 1882 to home the Provincial Council. Since 1381 and until the mid 19th century the city\u2019s prison was also located within the building.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The lobbies of both buildings are open to the public during the week, and guided tours can be arranged for students.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Palma City Hall<\/strong> educacio@palma.es<br \/>\n<strong>Consell Insular de Mallorca<\/strong> visitas@conselldemallorca.net<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-13258 size-full\" style=\"border: 0px none; margin: 0px auto; display: block;\" title=\"Palma City Hall.
