Recent studies confirm few genetic links between this breed and the typical breeds that are more common.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Features<\/strong><br \/>\n Its morphological features clearly distinguish it from other pigs, they are black with ears that fall toward their snout and typical dangly bits on the lower part of their neck.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <em>Associaci\u00f3 de Ramaders de Porc Negre Mallorqu\u00ed Selecte<\/em> (an association of Mallorcan black pig farmers) has set in motion a preservation plan that includes exhibiting the pigs at fairs and markets, as well as educating farmers and promoting black pig products.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-10543 size-full\" title=\"The Mallorcan black pig\" src=\"https:\/\/www.masmallorca.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/cerdo-negro-mallorquin.jpg\" alt=\"The Mallorcan black pig\" width=\"350\" height=\"389\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.masmallorca.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/cerdo-negro-mallorquin.jpg 350w, https:\/\/www.masmallorca.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/cerdo-negro-mallorquin-270x300.jpg 270w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Products<\/strong><br \/>\n Many high quality products come from this breed. The Black Pig <a title=\"Majorcan Sobrasada\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mallorcashop.net\/en\/11-majorcan-sobrasada\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Sobrasada<\/strong><\/a> (a typical Mallorcan product) from Mallorca bearing the logo of the European Trademark of <strong>Protected Geographical Indication<\/strong> is the paradigmatic product obtained from this breed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Other products are the roast sucking pig or the suckling pig confit, the fresh meat and the lard.
