Since the 20th century these commercial transactions take place in covered buildings that in some cases are true examples of unique architecture.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The three food markets in Palma de Mallorca bring together all the elements that make these buildings into<strong> places of special interest both on a historical and touristic level.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <strong>Olivar market<\/strong>, established over 50 years ago, has over one hundred stalls and is one of the most well known. As well as the normal stalls it offers a children\u2019s play area, a supermarket, shops and underground parking among other things.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-10405 size-full\" style=\"margin: 10px 20px 5px 0px; float: left;\" title=\"Olivar market, Palma, Mallorca\" src=\"https:\/\/www.masmallorca.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/mercados-de-abastos-palma-mallorca-1.jpg\" alt=\"Olivar market, Palma, Mallorca\" width=\"350\" height=\"233\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.masmallorca.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/mercados-de-abastos-palma-mallorca-1.jpg 350w, https:\/\/www.masmallorca.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/mercados-de-abastos-palma-mallorca-1-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><br \/>\n The <strong>Pere Garau<\/strong> square (pla\u00e7a), one of the busiest, opened its doors in 1943. With 100 stalls and shops selling fresh and specialized produce, it also holds an outside market 3 times a week.<br \/>\n \u00a0<br \/>\n The<strong> Santa Catalina market<\/strong> preserves the taste of the traditional Mallorcan markets. There are around 50 stalls. Until the beginning of the civil war it had many regular foreign clients, those living in the areas of El Terreno, G\u00e9nova and La Bonanova.
