Ubicat al casc antic -en la conflu\u00e8ncia del carrer Conquistador amb les escalinates de la Catedral, i amb entrada principal pel carrer Palau Reial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><strong>El Palau March va ser constru\u00eft entre els anys 1939 i 1945<\/strong> per ordre del financer mallorqu\u00ed Joan March Ordinas, que va encarregar el projecte als arquitectes Guillermo Forteza i Luis Guti\u00e9rrez Soto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El palau ocupa 1.500 metres quadrats de l\u2019extens conjunt arquitect\u00f2nic que formava l\u2019antic Convento de Santo Domingo, avui desaparegut, i en la seva part m\u00e9s elevada t\u00e9 vuit pisos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Joan March va habitar el palau durant les seves estances estiuenques a Mallorca; en ell va morir la seva esposa, Leonor Servera, i a la mort del magnat es va instal\u00b7lar en el seu interior la capella f\u00fanebre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En l\u2019actualitat, l\u2019edifici constitueix la seu de la coneguda <strong>Fundaci\u00f3 March<\/strong>, que acull un museu, un auditori, una biblioteca oberta parcialment al p\u00fablic des de 1970.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">El museu exhibeix la <strong>col\u00b7lecci\u00f3 permanent d\u2019escultura contempor\u00e0nia<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>El museu exhibeix  la <strong>col\u00b7lecci\u00f3 permanent d\u2019escultura contempor\u00e0nia<\/strong> que el mecenes Bartolom\u00e9 March Servera, fill menor del fundador, tenia a la Torre Cega de Cala Rajada, formada per obres d\u2019Henry Moore, Chillida, Berrocal i Alfaro, entre altres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La volta de l\u2019escala principal i la sala de m\u00fasica estan decorades amb pintures de Josep Maria Sert (1874-1945). El setembre, l\u2019exposici\u00f3 temporal de pintura exhibia obres de Salvador Dal\u00ed i mapes realitzats per cart\u00f2grafs mallorquins del segle XVII, entre altres peces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Entre les obres exposades al recinte destaca el <strong>c\u00e8lebre Betlem Napolit\u00e0<\/strong> del segle XVIII, obra de gran bellesa que no nom\u00e9s mostra el naixement de Jes\u00fas, sin\u00f3 la vida quotidiana de l\u2019\u00e8poca en multitud de figures humanes i animals de rica composici\u00f3, que causa l\u2019admiraci\u00f3 dels visitants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La <strong>biblioteca<\/strong> de la Fundaci\u00f3, especialitzada en tem\u00e0tica balear, t\u00e9 fons bibliogr\u00e0fics i documentals que inclouen des del segle XVI fins a l\u2019actualitat. Guarda m\u00e9s de 2.000 manuscrits (c\u00f2dexs i s\u00e8ries de documents aut\u00f2grafs) i 60.000 volums de llibres, publicacions peri\u00f2diques, opuscles i altres impresos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">L&#8217;entrada de la biblioteca es troba al carrer Conquistador.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019<strong>Auditori<\/strong> ofereix un programa de concerts per a orquestra de cambra i cicles de m\u00fasica contempor\u00e0nia dedicats a diferents compositors. <br>L\u00b4entrada als concerts \u00e9s gratu\u00efta, pr\u00e8via reserva per tel\u00e8fon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La cafeteria s\u2019allotja el exterior de l\u2019edifici i sol estar molt freq\u00fcentat pels turistes que visiten la part baixa de la ciutat, en tractar-se d\u2019un punt neur\u00e0lgic a pocs metres de la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.masmallorca.es\/ca\/cultura\/la-catedral-de-palma-mallorca.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Catedral<\/a>, el Passeig des Born i el Passeig Sagrera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignfull\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"540\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/www.masmallorca.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/Palau-March_4.jpg\" alt=\"El Palau March, aturada obligada en el circuit cultural de Palma\" class=\"wp-image-4587\" title=\"Museu Palau March, circuit cultural de Palma\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.masmallorca.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/Palau-March_4.jpg 540w, https:\/\/www.masmallorca.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/Palau-March_4-300x111.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>El Palau March \u00e9s un dels punts destacats al recorregut cultural de Palma.
