Its situation at the base of the Serra Tramuntana make Caimari an idyllic place surrounded by mountain ranges and the omnipresent olive trees, as well as thick forests with holm oak and pine trees. The lowlands are marked by dry land tillage, almond trees, carobs, fi g trees and cereal cultivation. This landscape surrounds the little cottages that are separated by the traditional dry stone walls.
Since the 16th century, olive oil production has been the main reason for the proprietors´ wealth in this mountain region. There have been extensive trade activities on an international level which helped to increase the feudal fortunes.
